WHEN BOKS LIPS ARE MOVING, HE'S LYING

"Boks is now making the false claim that he has been 'No Kill' for the past month. This is simply a pure, unadulterated LIE. Those who are experienced in the 'No Kill' effort state in order to even be considered 'No Kill', the lives saved has to be around 90+ percent. Charlottesville, South Carolina under the consultation of No Kill Solutions, saved 87% of their animals in 2005 and claimed NOT to be No Kill. When they finally hit No Kill, it was at 92% (in 2006).

Ed Boks is engaging in exactly the same kinds of prevarications which got him ousted from both Maricopa and NYC. He is choosing to report the stats on certain selected months, and then slaughtering animals after the report has been issued! He is currently concentrating his attention on recategorizing animals and calling them "unadoptable."

How can the rescue community be so naive? Don't they realize that in order for animals to be saved, there needs to be a manual of no kill policies and programs that the employee must follow and be trained? There also has to be increased adoptions, foster care, etc. by the public sector? Rescue alone can't solve Ed Boks lack of skill in implementing 'No Kill' policies needed to get Los Angeles on the road to No Kill.

Under Ed Boks, there is no successful program for off site adoptions, no successful program for foster care and bottle feeding, no successful program in advertising and/or outreach, I could go on and on. In fact, do your readers know that the department doesn't even have a current shelter manual? At a meeting just last week, when employees complained that they didn't understand what they're supposed to be doing, Ed Boks replied "I haven't received a manual yet, nor have any directives come across my desk." When he said this the whole room went silent, you could hear a pin drop. Then one employee whispered, 'I thought HE was supposed to be coming up with the directives and a current manual. Does anyone know whose running this show?' Everyone just broke up laughing; I don't think Boks even heard what was whispered."

(ADL-LA Notes: We have heard from two individuals in admin, that Boks is trying to get away with doing Temperament Testing. Remember, Ed Boks was the Temperament Testing king who in 2003 offered ex-LAAS commissioner Paul Jolly to come to Arizona, along with the then General Manager Jerry Greenwalt, and learn how Boks was temperament testing animals in order to "improve the stats." The outcry from the Los Angeles humane community to this idea was so audacious, that Jolly and Greenwalt were prevented from implementing Boks' form of temperament testing. Now, Ed Boks is attempting to do this right under the nose of the humane community.

Remember, Ed Boks like the evangelistic Christian ministers on television, is a faker and a liar. That's the bottom line folks; and the sooner Mayor Villaraigosa and his staff realize this and make the necessary changes in order to implement No Kill Solutions programs, protocols and polices, the sooner animals lives will begin to be rightfully be saved.
